Pictures

I know I promised that this wasn't going to be a political blog, but here are some incredibly sobering pictures of the murder of Iraqi civilians by U.S. troops. One is instantly reminded of the My Lai expose in Life Magazine.

I don't want to downplay the tragedy, here... but they did fail to stop at a checkpoint... it sounds rather more like the soldiers were doing their job. Or am I missing something?

Possibly, But, wouldn't it have been possible to shot the TIRES first, and then approach the car and find out who is in it, rather than immediately fire into the windshield with the intent to kill?

Also, failing to stop at a checkpoint is not an uncommon occurence. Many Iraqi citizens don't understand the purpose of these checkpoints, especially at night, since US soldiers are ubiquitous, especially in urban areas. And since when was failing to stop at a checkpoint reason for showering bullets into a car? Is that the only method they have of slowing a vehicle? And if so, that's insane.
